Welcome to the childcare for low income, sliding-scale, reduced fee based childcare & preschool program.  Each subsidized pre-school and child care has their own eligibility requirements. You may directly click on the selected child care title in"blue" linking  directly to their site, or you may personally contact them by phone. These daycare, childcare and pre-school program  base their services upon your income and maybe your zip code.  A tip  is  that you can sometimes enroll into two subsidized programs at once in order  that you may receive full day services. No referral/case worker is required and in some case will provide transportation.

Sacramento parents with children age  0- 5. Sacramento county residents who are income eligible may apply directly to any Head Start subsidized/free pre-school which is within your county. Head Start provides half day pre-school enrollments along with full day enrollments that may have a waiting list. If you need full day services, please call Child Action.

The 4th "R" Child Care Program

There are several 4th R locations throughout Sacramento, most are within elementary schools. Your child does not have to  attend the elementary school where the 4th R is located. Fees are subsidized or sliding scale  depending upon your income. Click the title and use the Child Action CEL application

Child care assistance for low-income families in Sacramento County who need child care in order to work, attend school or participate in job training programs. To begin the application process online click here or download the form  . You may call~ 369-0191 and a representative will help you fill out an application over the phone. Additional resource and referral assistance may be available. If you are employed, in school or on cash aid such as CalWorks then you may receive priority services.

CalWORKs Child Care Program

Go to the Sacramento County website link for a detailed list of subsidized childcare eligibility requirements. Speak with your CalWORKS social worker for eligibility. You may also contact Child Action at (916) 369-0191 and inform the intake worker that you need "CaWORKS stage one or two childcare".
